This project is part of the Forests Program.
The project is being developed in Murici (AL) and Serra do Urubu (PE), two areas considered by SAVE Brasil and BirdLife International as "Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas" (IBA) and, therefore, priorities for conservation. These areas are located in the Pernambuco Center of Endemism (the portion of the Atlantic Forest located north of the São Francisco River) and together are home to 18 species of endemic birds that are globally threatened with extinction. SAVE has been working in the region since the early 2000s with positive results for the conservation of these areas. In 2001, collaboration with the federal government resulted in the creation of the Murici Ecological Station. In 2004, SAVE acquired an area of 362 hectares in the Serra do Urubu which, in 2011, was recognized as a Private Natural Heritage Reserve, the RPPN Pedra D'Antas (to visit the Reserve click here ).
 Objectives:
 Murici:
 To ensure the effective implementation of the Murici Ecological Station;
 Implement the actions foreseen in the Emergency Plan for the Conservation of the Alagoas Antwren (Myrmotherula snowi), a critically endangered species, in order to guarantee the conservation of the species.
 Urubu Mountain Range:
 Strengthen the protection and management of the Pedra D'Antas Reserve;
 Engaging local stakeholders in the conservation of birds and the Atlantic Forest of the Serra do Urubu;
 To encourage forest restoration in the Serra do Urubu landscape;
 To promote scientific research in the Reserve;
 To develop ecotourism as a tool for conservation and income generation for the local community.
