The jacutinga (Aburria jacutinga) is considered an excellent seed disperser, capable of feeding on 41 fruits of the Atlantic Forest, contributing to the maintenance of forests and water systems. However, it is threatened with extinction due to hunting and habitat loss. The Jacutinga Project aims to increase the population of jacutingas in the Atlantic Forest through reintroduction and monitoring.
 Objectives:
 - To establish a viable population of the Aburria jacutinga species and improve its conservation status by continuing releases in the Serra da Mantiqueira;
 - Constantly update the jacutinga release protocol with new techniques and lessons learned to be replicated in new areas;
 - To awaken in the community a sense of pride and appreciation for the environment of which it is a part, encouraging people to take action in the conservation of the region;
 - To obtain greater support and commitment from environmental agencies, increasing the efficiency of enforcement in combating animal hunting and illegal harvesting of palm hearts; - To restore areas with species of interest to the diet of jacutingas and muriquis, prioritizing the planting of seeds of the juçara palm, a species threatened with extinction.
