The São Paulo Marsh Antwren (Formicivora paludicola) is a Critically Endangered (CR) species endemic to the state of São Paulo, which was only discovered in 2004. Its range is quite restricted and includes the marshes of the municipalities of Guararema, Salesópolis, Mogi das Cruzes, São José dos Campos, Biritiba-Mirim and Santa Branca.

In partnership with the Municipality of Guararema and the NGO Guaranature, SAVE Brasil is developing a conservation project for this species, whose main objectives are:

- To conduct a population census and monitor the São Paulo marsh antwren in Guararema;
- Searching for species in new areas;
- To engage the local community of Guararema in the conservation of the species;
- Creation of a municipal conservation unit.
