BirdLife International, formerly the International Council for Bird Preservation (ICBP) created in 1922, is a global Partnership of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with a special focus on conservation and birds. The BirdLife Partners work together on shared priorities, policies and programmes, exchanging skills, experiences and information in order to strengthen local capabilities, authority and leaderships. Each NGO Partner represents a unique geographic territory (usually a country). In addition to the official national Partners, BirdLife also acts in a system of Work Groups (including some Groups of Specialists, together with Wetlands International and the World Conservation Union - IUCN), each one with specific attribution and responsibilities. Mission The BirdLife Partnership strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources. Vision Birds are beautiful, inspirational and international. They are excellent flagships and vital environmental indicators.
